Throughout the year, there are opportunities for club members to attend national courses and competitions organised by JKA England. These are an excellent way to supplement your regular training and benefit from the tuition of Ohta Sensei and visiting instructors from JKA Headquarters in Japan and worldwide.

JKA ENGLAND SPRING 2015 GASSHUKU

Special guest instructors Osaka Yoshiharu 8th Dan and Shiina Mai 3rd Dan from the JKA Honbu in Japan and Omura Fujikiyo 7th Dan Chief Instructor of JKA Thailand, join JKA England’s Ohta Yoshinobu 7th Dan for this popular international training camp.

We encourage all club members to attend this four-day course to train with some of the world’s best instructors. You could even make it a short break by staying overnight at the Arora Hotel, just 5 minutes away. There are a limited number of rooms available at a discounted rate of £55 per room with £10 supplement for breakfast.

Costs: £30 Training per day / £100 for all four days (ages 16+)
£25 Training per day / £90 for all four days (ages 15 and below)

4TH SHIRANAMIKAI SUMMER CAMP

There’s no need to worry about getting bored over the summer holiday because we’ll be holding our fourth 5-day summer training camp at the O2 Centre.

Along with the usual mix of basics, kata and kumite, there’ll be the chance to explore techniques and practise advanced applications. Students who attend the whole week (on time) will receive a certificate. After training on Friday, we’ll be going out for a club lunch!

Costs: £45 for the week if booked in advance (you’ll also train for free at the Tuesday and Wednesday evening classes) or £10 per day. Not suitable for complete novices.

SHIRANAMIKAI SUMMER GASSHUKU

Not to be confused with the summer camp earlier this month, this is an away-stay from London and close to one of the sandy beaches of England. Running from Thursday evening to Saturday morning, then back to Swiss Cottage for afternoon training! Costs: Only travel and subsistence – training will be free. More details soon!

Special guest instructors from the Tokyo Honbu and worldwide join JKA England’s Ohta Yoshinobu 7th Dan for this popular international training course.

JKA England licences must be in-date to participate in any lesson, grading, course or competition. Club kyu grading fee includes training, grading, certificate and new belt if successful.
JKA England courses cost £10 for brown and black belts, reduced to £5 for orange to purple white belts (excludes Spring and Autumn International courses) and also incorporate training for squad and those soon taking a dan grading.
*Brown and black belts should bring gum shields and mitts to all JKA England courses. Groin and chest protectors are recommended.

Learn authentic Shotokan karate as taught by the Japan Karate Association. Come and join our karate classes in Harrow-on-the-Hill, Swiss Cottage, West Hampstead and Stanmore.
