Karate competitions

The Japan Karate Association in England holds competitions twice-annually in summer and autumn: The National Championship and Four Nations / Shotokan Open Championship. Here, you can compete for your club, Shiranamikai. Competitions are not compulsory but can be an incentive to set personal goals and measure progress. They are open to all members to compete in categories appropriate for their age and grade.

Students who perform consistently well across brown/black belt categories, may be put forward by their instructor to attend a squad training session. Squad sessions run approximately every two weeks and those selected are expected to attend each one in addition to maintaining their regular club training. Squad members who compete at international level receive contributions for travel and subsistence.
